Information Architecture (IA)
One of the most important steps we need to get right the first time! Information Architecture blue prints out the website, pages, navigation, and site interaction with users. Strong IA facilitates budget and time management, and ensures the creation of a site that is both intuitive and effective in delivering your message
In the context of website design, your information architecture refers to the analysis and categorization of the content (data) available on your website, with a focus on identifying unique content types, their attributes, and the relationships they share between each other. Developing a coherent, workable information architecture for your website is paramount to usability and how your users interact and learn about the products and or services your company offers.
IA is an integral part of any project, as it provides a structural model of information and serves as a ‘blueprint’ for user-friendly navigation and content categorization. The development and theming of a website should occur only after an in-depth and iterative information architecture phase.
The steps of the information architecture phase include:
- Gathering detailed functional requirements
- Developing key user personas
- Identifying and defining complex functionality and user interaction
- Specifying content models for both web and mobile interfaces
- Determining upper-level site navigation
- Creating detailed processes and task flows
Building on the Discovery findings, we’ll create a user-driven, consistent visual blueprint for the Digital Architecture that will power the new or rebuilt web presence
